A Human Note...

A quick update on what's coming up in August 2016

Your membership dues make a difference.

HWF is dedicated to building a safe space for Humanists on the Gulf Coast, creating opportunities for Humanists to connect with each other, and working towards giving seculars a platform for their views. We stand up for the separation of church and state, and demonstrate that non-theists are caring members of the community through projects like our support of Satoshi Forest in helping the homeless gain access to healthy food, and food distributions specifically targeting the homebound and disabled. We want to repeat these efforts and more like them, and can only do so with your support.

If you haven't renewed your membership yet this year, please do so. Click on the red button below:

First Friday FreeUp

Open Discussion: What's on your mind?

Friday, August 5

6:00-9:00 pm

Xiscali Mexican Restaurant

920 E Gregory St, Pensacola, FL 32502

Open discussion:
After our initial meet and greet, we'll pass around index cards for people to write out a question or comment. Then the group will choose which topics to focus on for discussion. The MC will read off each card one at a time and we'll have a round-the-table discussion about its topic -- limiting each speaker to 90 seconds at a shot -- until we wear out the topic, and then we'll go on to the next.

Come Fly a Kite at the

Emilie De Chatelet Beach Party

Sunday, August 14

4:00-7:00 pm

Pensacola Beach Park West (at the entrance to Ft. Pickens)

Come out and celebrate the start of the new fiscal year (and why do fiscal years always start in the summer???). Bring your friends and bring your kids, and let’s get some wild, creative energy going – let the ideas soar! What projects should we tackle in the coming year? What should our priorities be? How can we best meet our mission of building a community for non-theists on the Gulf Coast?

We'll provide the kites (though you're welcome to bring your own). YOU provide the ideas. And, of course, some potluck to munch on. Grills and tables, covered pavilion. Lots of sun and sand.

And who the heck is Emilie De Chatelet? Come on down and find out!
